The Keeper

First Person Horror Game | Group Project

Introduction

A project based around working as a team and producing a larger scale project.

The project consisted of 2 programmers and 5 designers. We used Scrum for our agile  framework to manage the project mainly using sprint.

The designers (myself included) worked on many different areas to the project, issuing work based on needs.

for this project I contributed towards the overall design of the game, helping with admin and management, Hard-surface modelling and texturing and designed the audio.

The start of the project was deciding on what game to make, we held many meetings and pitched our ideas and in the end we chose to go forward with a surreal horror game. We took a lot of inspriation from the game "Inside" and "Amnesia".

I produced a small research peice for the project to reference, going into what makes horror and how it works. looking into novels, movies, games and other media. This helped the team understand the basics of horror and move forward with the design.

Above examples are of the hard-surface modelling I completed for the project, using Maya and Substance Painter.

The clock was planned to have animation done but unfortunately we ran out of time.

Sound Design

Reaper_Workflow.JPG

The sound design for the project was done using a Zoom H5 to record and Reaper as the Digital Audio Workstation.

90% of the sound were recorded and altered, the other 10% came from other sources or produced using VST's.

Using reapers video playback I had basic video animations sent over to me to line up and design the audio for the characters and enviroment. Below you can see an example of Reapers workflow.
