Final Major Project

Creating a First-Person Audio Game

Abstract

Audio can sometimes be overlooked in game design and only seen at face value.

This project explores deeper into game design and audio design by designing an audio game. The project explores recent technologies and the fundamentals of game design theory and audio design theory to help bring these parts of the industry closer together and better understand the importance of audio design in games.

The demo presented in the project is not complete but shows potential for audio game design in the future.

The main premise of the project was to create a game for an audience that is visually impaired. But, Unfortunately due to the pandemic the project did not get as far in the pipeline as originally planned and thus certain tests could not be planned for and the project shifted into making an audio game and researching audio relating to games.

The game consists of being a first-person inspired gameplay where the player follows sounds that lead to their objective and sound based puzzles would also be included later down the line.
